Options for you
Our role is to help patients understand what is happening in their mouth. At the initial appointment we act as an advisor, pointing out problems and options that you have. There is no pressure to have any work performed if you don’t want. At the end of the exam it is up to you to tell us what (if anything is required) you wish to have carried out.
Your first appointment
During your first appointment we will discuss with you your medical history any concerns or fears you may have regarding your dental treatment. This will enable us to give you more informed options to improve not only your dental health but also your overall health and achieve any desired goals.
The second part of your initial appointment will consist of an oral examination where the dentist will check not only your teeth but also your soft tissue (tongue, lips and cheeks) for any abnormalities, and a periodontal (gum) check for redness, puffiness or bleeding.
X-rays are also usually taken to check for any decay or other dental conditions such as abscesses’ or bone loss that cannot be see with the naked eye.
At the end of your appointment we will discuss with you our findings and recommendations. We will draw up a treatment plan for you and answer any questions that you may have.
